The Berea College Mountaineers hosted the Eagles of Alice Lloyd College Tuesday night for the last regular season conference home game of the season and did not disappoint the home crowd rolling to an 87-73 victory. The Mountaineers shot 35-71 (.493) from the field including 6-21 (.286) from the three-point line and 11-14 (.786) from the free throw line. Berea College also dished out 27 assists as a team and grabbed 9 steals in the game.
The Mountaineers had five players in double figures and were led by senior guard Rudy Evans and junior forward Trey Congleton. Evans finished the game tallying 17 points, 9 assists and 8 rebounds while Congleton had 17 points and 7 rebounds. Kevin Burrus had an impressive stat line which included 15 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The final two Mountaineers in double figures were Josh Clark with 14 points and 7 rebounds and Derek Davis chipping in 10 points. Other Mountaineers in the scoring column were Brad McIntosh with 6 points, Ardell Wheeler with 4 points, and both Lathan Bennett and Joey King scoring 2 points.
Berea College now sits with an overall record of 15-11 and 6-4 in the KIAC with four games to play in the regular season. The Mountaineers will be on the road Saturday afternoon to face Indiana University East in Richmond, Indiana at 3:00 pm.
