Berea Shocks Lindsey Wilson in Overtime Thriller

            The Mountaineers improve their record to 5-1 after winning in overtime 70-68 over the Blue Raiders of Lindsey Wilson. Berea was the first to score in overtime with Rudy Evans making a three-pointer with 3:55 left to make the score 63-60. Lathan Bennett made two free throws the next possession making the score 65-62. Rudy Evans was able to ice the game making two free throws in the last 30 seconds to give the Mountaineers the victory.

            “This is obviously a big win for our team tonight. Lindsey Wilson is a good team that really had a size advantage. Our guys battled and really made plays at key moments and I think we are learning to win close games”, Coach John Hemenway commented after the game.
           
            The Mountaineers as a team shot 23-50 (.460) from the field, 8-18 (.444) from the three-point line and 16-30 (.533) from the free throw line. Berea was outrebounded in the game 46-28 but forced Lindsey Wilson to commit 25 turnovers.

            Darrin Dorsey led the way for the Mountaineers with 30 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists. Dorsey was 12-17 from the field including 6-8 from the three-point line. Rudy Evans posted 19 points and a team-high 6 steals in the victory. Josh Clark had a solid game scoring 9 points and grabbing a team-high 6 rebounds. Other Mountaineers in the scoring column were Chase Wofford with 6 points, Lathan Bennett with 4 points and Trey Congleton with 2 points.

            The Mountaineers will be on the road this weekend at the Marian University “Ken Elmendorf Memorial Classic” in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Mountaineers will take on the Cougars of Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Friday, November 19th at 8:00 pm. The Mountaineers will return to Seabury Arena on Friday, December 3rd at 8:00 pm as Berea will face OSU-Mansfield in the “Roland Wierwille Classic”.
