Mountaineers Too Much For Crown

            The Berea men’s basketball team made their home debut against Crown College out of Powell, Tennessee, and came away with an impressive 98-55 victory. Berea jumped on Crown early and started the game with a 14-0 run and took the lead into halftime 48-25. The Mountaineers did not slow down in the second half outscoring Crown 50-30. The Mountaineers were 39-82 (.476) from the field, 5-28 (.179) from the three-point line, and 15-22 (.682) from the free throw line. The Mountaineers outrebounded Crown 50-38, including 23 offensive rebounds, had 23 assists, 22 steals and only committed 12 turnovers as a team.

The Mountaineers had four players in score in double figures who were led by senior guard, Darrin Dorsey. Dorsey recorded a near triple-double with 27 points, 11 rebounds, 9 assists, and 5 steals. Senior forward, Chase Wofford, had a productive night of 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 steals. Josh Clark, junior forward, contributed 16 points and 8 rebounds to the Mountaineers’ victory. Rudy Evans, senior guard, led the team in assists and steals while recording double-double of 12 points, 10 assists, and 6 steals. Brad McIntosh had his best night in his short career as a Mountaineer scoring 9 points (3-4 from 3-point), and grabbed 5 rebounds. Other Mountaineers in the scoring column were Trey Congleton with 4 points, Derek Davis and Lathan Bennett both had 3 points and Joey King and Branden Raider each scored 2 points.

Next opponent for the Mountaineers will be NAIA Division I Shawnee State for Berea’s homecoming game Saturday, November 13th. Game time starts at 7:30 pm at Seabury Arena.
